Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is produced from the finest parcels of the Quinta do Noval estate, using traditional Douro varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Sousão and Tinta Roriz. The grapes are foot-trodden in the estate's granite lagares before ageing in wooden casks. The 2019 vintage was marked by a mild winter and dry conditions, with almost no rain from May until the end of August. Despite the prolonged sunshine, summer temperatures in the Douro remained relatively moderate, while low humidity kept disease pressure low and allowed the grapes to remain exceptionally healthy. Noval described the resulting Vintage Port as showing the “purity of fruit” and the “fine, delicate quality” characteristic of the estate. The result is a powerful yet elegant Vintage Port, combining intense black and red fruit with liquorice, spice and graphite, supported by firm tannins, excellent freshness and remarkable length.
