Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is produced from the finest parcels of the Quinta do Noval estate, using traditional Douro varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão and Sousão. The grapes are foot-trodden in the estate's granite lagares before ageing in wooden casks. The 2000 vintage was a universally declared year and produced concentrated, powerful wines. A wet spring reduced yields through poor fruit set, while warm and dry conditions from June onwards allowed the grapes to ripen evenly. A few days of rain in mid-September helped complete the ripening before the harvest began around 20 September. The result is an exceptionally concentrated and powerful Vintage Port, with intense blackberry and cassis fruit, liquorice, chocolate and spice, supported by sweet, structured tannins, freshness and a remarkably long finish. The 2000 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port was produced in a quantity of only 1,500 cases.
