The Mothership is the flagship Chenin Blanc from ArtiSons, the small-batch creative label of Stellenrust in Stellenbosch. Sourced from bush vines planted in 1964 on iron and granite soils in the Bottelary Hills, farmed without irrigation. Fermented and aged in a foudre and a concrete egg.
The 2024 is leesy, focused and refreshing, with pear and wet stone on the palate and remarkable length. Tim Atkin described it as an example of winemaker Tertius Boshoff "standing back to let the vineyard talk."
