Château Rieussec, classified as a Premier Cru Classé in Sauternes, is part of the renowned Bordeaux Classification of 1855.
Since the Rothschild family took ownership, numerous changes have been made, all aimed at elevating quality. A new cellar was built to allow for longer maturation, and production of the Grand Vin was reduced due to stricter selection. At times, the selection is so rigorous that no Grand Vin is produced at all.
