Quinta do Vale Meão is one of the historic estates of the Douro, situated in the Douro Superior near Vila Nova de Foz Côa. The property was acquired by Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira in 1877 and has been in the Olazabal family since 1994.

The estate has a particularly important place in the history of Portuguese wine. Its vineyards supplied the grapes for Barca Velha, one of Portugal's most iconic wines, for many years. Barca Velha was produced from grapes originating at Quinta do Vale Meão before the estate began producing its own wines under the Quinta do Vale Meão name.
 
For the 2023 vintage, approximately 24,500 bottles were produced, making it a relatively limited production from one of the Douro's most important estates. The wine was bottled in July 2025.
