No secondary-market bottles, just the reassurance that these rare Colheitas have been properly kept and are in excellent condition. Quinta do Noval Colheita is a single-vintage Tawny Port made from grapes grown at the Quinta do Noval estate. Unlike Vintage Port, a Colheita spends its entire life ageing in wooden casks, developing its characteristic nutty, dried-fruit and oxidative complexity before bottling. The 2009 vintage followed a wet and cold winter, a relatively dry spring and a very dry summer. Mild conditions during much of the growing season allowed the vines to retain their leaves and maintain an efficient water balance, while the heat and dryness towards the end of the season accelerated ripening. At harvest, the grapes were in excellent health and perfectly ripe, resulting in wines with richness, concentration and freshness. The result is a rich and complex Colheita, combining dried fruit, roasted almond, caramel, citrus and spice with a silky texture, freshness and a long, elegant finish. The 2009 Colheita was first bottled in 2022, after approximately 13 years of ageing in wooden casks.
