El Enemigo Chardonnay 2023
El Enemigo was founded by Catena Zapata chief winemaker Alejandro Vigil and historian Adrianna Catena, Nicolas Catena’s youngest daughter. Their project reflects a shared passion for history, philosophy and literature, resulting in innovative wines with authentic Argentinian soul.
This Chardonnay comes from high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza’s Gualtallary sub-region at 1400–1500 metres above sea level, where cool nights and bright sunshine ensure slow, even ripening. The wine is aged for 10 months in old oak barrels under a thin veil of yeast, a technique inspired by France’s Jura region. This gives distinctive notes of bitter almonds, dried fruit and ripe tropical flavours, with savoury creaminess and toasted nut characters on the palate and a long finish.
