Quinta do Noval Silval Vintage Port 2001

Silval is a Vintage Port produced by Quinta do Noval, designed to mature earlier than the estate's classic Quinta do Noval Vintage Port. The 2001 was made from grapes from Quinta do Silval and selected high-grade vineyards in the Cima Corgo, with the grapes traditionally foot-trodden in lagares before ageing in wooden casks. The 2001 vintage was declared by Quinta do Noval in 2003, but the Silval was held back and only released later when Christian Seely considered it ready. This extended bottle ageing helped soften the wine while retaining its fruit and structure. The result is a seductive and accessible Vintage Port, with vibrant dark fruit, liquorice, chocolate and earthy notes, supported by silky tannins and a long, elegant finish. The 2001 is now mature and particularly attractive to drink.

Please note: Silval is no longer produced. Quinta do Noval has discontinued this label, making existing vintages increasingly rare. As availability declines, Silval is becoming a sought-after collector’s item – a unique piece of Noval’s winemaking legacy.
