Chateau Haut-Bergeron Sauternes Demi 37,5cl 2015
Actual bottle shown on photo.
With age, Sauternes transforms from opulent sweetness into profound complexity. Its golden fruit giving way to layers of honey, wax, spice and quiet oxidation. What remains is not richness, but harmony.
Château Haut-Bergeron is a long-established Sauternes estate located near the commune of Preignac, close to several classified growths of the appellation. The property encompasses roughly 30 hectares planted mainly with Sémillon, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc and a small share of Muscadelle, reflecting the traditional varietal mix of Sauternes. Its terroir consists of gravelly soils over clay and limestone, providing both warmth for botrytis development and underlying tension. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand in multiple selective passes to collect only botrytis-affected grapes at optimal concentration. Fermentation and ageing take place in French oak barrels, resulting in a sweet white wine known for its generous but balanced richness, with ripe stone-fruit character supported by freshness rather than heavy opulence.
