Chateau Doisy-Vérdines Sauternes Grand Cru Classé Demi 37,5cl 2001
Actual bottle shown on photo.
With age, Sauternes transforms from opulent sweetness into profound complexity. Its golden fruit giving way to layers of honey, wax, spice and quiet oxidation. What remains is not richness, but harmony.
Château Doisy-Verdines is a small Barsac estate historically linked to the Doisy properties of the region. Situated on the commune’s limestone plateau, the vineyard spans roughly 6 to 7 hectares planted mainly with Sémillon, supported by Sauvignon Blanc and a small share of Muscadelle. Its soils are dominated by limestone with light gravel, giving the wines a naturally lifted, mineral profile. Harvesting is carried out by hand in several passes to collect only botrytised berries. Fermentation and élevage occur in French oak barrels, producing a sweet white wine prized for its finesse and bright, focused freshness rather than sheer richness.
