Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is produced from the finest parcels of the Quinta do Noval estate, using traditional Douro varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Sousão and Tinta Roriz. The grapes are foot-trodden in the estate's granite lagares before ageing in wooden casks. The 2018 vintage was marked by a wet first half of the growing season, followed by a long, hot and dry summer. The earlier rainfall replenished the soil's water reserves, while the dry conditions later in the season encouraged excellent ripening and concentration. Noval described the resulting wine as “magnificently ripe, profound and expressive.” The result is a beautifully ripe and elegant Vintage Port, combining dark fruit, spice and floral character with fine, long tannins, freshness and the classic purity of Quinta do Noval. The 2018 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port was selected from only 7% of the estate's total Port production, with 1,600 cases produced.
