The wine is produced from old bush vines planted in 1964 in the Bottelary Hills, rooted in iron-rich and granite soils and farmed without irrigation. The Chenin Blanc is fermented and matured in a combination of foudre and concrete egg, preserving freshness, texture and the character of the old-vine vineyard. The 2024 vintage is focused, mineral and refreshing, with notes of pear, wet stone and subtle lees-derived complexity. It combines concentration with freshness and finishes with impressive length. Tim Atkin MW awarded the wine 97 points and described winemaker Tertius Boshoff’s approach as “standing back to let the vineyard talk.” A highly rated old-vine Stellenbosch Chenin Blanc with excellent ageing potential.
