No secondary-market bottles, just the reassurance that these rare Vintages have been properly kept and are in excellent condition. Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is produced from the finest parcels of the Quinta do Noval estate, using traditional Douro varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Sousão and Tinta Roriz. The grapes are foot-trodden in the estate's granite lagares before ageing in wooden casks. The 2015 vintage began with a cold, dry winter and a very warm spring, followed by a hot and dry summer. Heavy spring rainfall replenished the water reserves in the soil, allowing the vines to cope well with the dry summer. A cooler-than-average August slowed the final ripening and the harvest arrived in excellent condition. Noval described the 2015 as a year in which “wines of great quality were relatively abundant.” The result is a powerful yet elegant Vintage Port, combining generous black fruit with floral and spicy notes, fine-grained tannins, freshness and excellent purity. The 2015 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port was selected from only 9% of the estate's total Port production, with 2,600 cases produced.
