Quinta do Noval Nacional is produced from a tiny parcel of ungrafted vines at the heart of the Quinta do Noval estate. These vines survived phylloxera on their own roots, without American rootstock, giving Nacional its distinctive origin and identity. The Nacional vineyard follows its own rhythm and is not necessarily produced in the same years as Quinta do Noval Vintage Port. The 2016 vintage produced an exceptionally concentrated and structured Port, with intense blackberry, plum and dark fruit supported by powerful tannins, spice and remarkable freshness. Despite its immense density and youthful austerity, the wine shows impressive precision, balance and length, with the structure to evolve over many decades. The 2016 Nacional was produced in a very limited quantity, with only around 175 cases made, underlining the exceptional rarity of this iconic expression of Quinta do Noval.
