Quinta do Noval Nacional is produced from a tiny parcel of ungrafted vines at the heart of the Quinta do Noval estate. These vines survived phylloxera on their own roots, without American rootstock, giving Nacional its distinctive origin and identity. The Nacional vineyard follows its own rhythm and is not necessarily produced in the same years as Quinta do Noval Vintage Port. The 1987 vintage is now a mature and highly intriguing expression of this exceptional vineyard. After almost four decades in bottle, the Port has developed complex tertiary aromas and flavours of toffee, milk chocolate, butterscotch, herbs and tropical fruit, while retaining attractive tannins, balance and freshness. The 1987 Nacional is now approaching its peak of maturity, offering the complexity and elegance that can only come with extended bottle ageing. A rare and highly collectible Nacional from a historic vintage, particularly appealing to collectors looking for mature examples of this legendary Port.
