Late Bottled Vintage Port from a single year, produced exclusively from grapes grown at Quinta do Noval. The wine is treated much like a Vintage Port, with the grapes foot-trodden in the traditional lagares, but is matured for around five years in wooden casks before being bottled unfiltered. The 2018 vintage was marked by a wet first half of the growing season followed by a long, hot and dry summer. The combination of good water reserves and favourable conditions later in the season resulted in healthy grapes with good concentration, freshness and aromatic expression. A rich and structured LBV with dark berry fruit, blackberry and plum, complemented by spice and subtle coffee notes. The palate is full and concentrated, with firm but ripe tannins, freshness and a long finish. Contains natural sediment and should be decanted before serving.
