Porto Kopke is widely recognized as the first Port house in the history of Port wine. Founded in 1638 by the Germans Cristiano and Nicolaus Kopke, the house celebrated 375 years of continuous production of fine wine and Port in 2013, from its renowned Quinta São Luiz. Kopke has a rich tradition, with most of its wines available in both full and half bottles — all featuring the distinctive hand-painted bottles, a true tradition of the Douro region.

Kopke is also the world leader in Colheita Ports, also known as "Single Year Tawny Ports". The house accounts for 25% of the global Colheita Port trade.
